Taransay is our lovely 3 bedroom, self catering, detached cottage at Bridge of Orchy, with uninterrupted views of Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh munros. The long-distance West Highland Way walk passes near our cottage. If you are looking for an overnight stay with vegetarian Breakfast rather than full Self Catering then click here.
Situated near Glencoe and adjacent to the iconic West Highland Railway Line, Taransay Cottage at Bridge of Orchy is ideally placed for hillwalking, hiking, cycling, skiing, sightseeing, railway enthusiasts or simply exploring the Highlands, Glencoe or further to Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye. Steam trains and classic diesels can sometimes be seen passing by. There are only around 8 trains a day slowly passing by - and the driver waves.
Whether you enjoy outdoor activities or just want a quiet, relaxing holiday in a breathtaking location, our Cottage is ideal. Easy to get to by road and rail, the cottage is just 15 minutes drive to historic Glencoe, a great hillwalking and skiing location. For those wanting to hillwalk or climb there are 25 munros (mountains over 914 metres) within a 10 mile radius.
The beautiful River Orchy is just a few minutes walk away and is one of Scotland's best salmon fishing rivers and popular with white water enthusiasts. Oban, gateway to the isles, is under an hour away.
Taransay Cottage was built in 1901 by the West Highland Railway Company, extended in 1996 and fully renovated in 2015.
